ABOUT
Dr Muhammad Naadir Bismilla is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in the treatment and management of sports injuries. After obtaining a medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 2008, Dr N Bismilla completed a two-year internship at Maxeke Hospital. In furthering his tertiary education, he completed a master’s degree in medicine in 2016. He has spent these last three years in private practice as an orthopaedic surgeon and has taken it upon himself to keep up with the latest techniques and technologies of orthopaedic surgery. He wants to provide the best care for his patients, in the most compassionate of ways. Dr N Bismilla adopts a more empathetic method of treating his patients, and like this, he can address their concerns and be there for them during the rehabilitation and recovery process. When he is not attending to his patients, Dr N Bismilla is participating in tennis tournaments or part of the Mark’s Park cricket club.
Services includes :
- Arthroscopic shoulder surgery; a small camera called an arthroscope is used to assess or repair the tissues surrounding your shoulder joint. This is a minimally invasive surgery.
- Rotator cuff repair; this may be performed via arthroscopic surgery or open surgery, and for smaller tears, Dr N Bismilla will operate arthroscopically
- Shoulder instability surgery; the three surgeries which Dr N Bismilla may perform to treat shoulder instability are capsular shift surgery, labral repair surgery and latarjet procedure
- Arthroscopic knee surgery; when necessary, Dr N Bismilla will perform this surgery because it is minimally invasive and has a faster and more comfortable recovery
- Knee ligament reconstruction; upon encountering torn or damaged knee ligaments, Dr N Bismalla may perform surgery to reconstruct these ligaments
- Partial knee replacement; an assessment of the condition of the knee joint internally is first made so that your doctor can see which are the damaged parts which may need replacing.
- Platelet-rich plasma injections; these involve small amounts of platelets to be administered directly into the area where they are needed most.
- Topaz procedure for plantar fasciitis; a minimally invasive surgery which involves a wand which resembles a needle to make small holes over plantar fascia
- Achilles tendon surgery; this is done when non-surgical treatments have been unsuccessful. Surgery is then done to repair a torn or ruptured Achilles tendon
