ABOUT
Dr Jabulani Thabani Mchunu holds a medical degree (MD) from Dr. Raul Dorticos Torrado (Medicine School of Cienfuegos) Cuba, a master’s degree (MMED) from the University of the Witwatersrand and the fellowship in orthopaedic surgery (FCORTHO) from the Collage of Medicine of South Africa. He further received a subspeciality training in arthroscopy and sport medicine injuries from the University of Assiut (Egypt) and shoulder arthroscopy, arthroplasty and tendon transfer surgeries from La Institut Paresien DE L´Êpaule (The Paris Shoulder Unit ) France where he was trained and mentored by the world respected professors in the field.He is currently a part time visiting fellow at Durban Shoulder Institute under the mentorship of Dr Shameem "Sham" Osman where he continues to sharpen his skills in the field.Through over the years he has attended several advanced training courses and meetings both nationally and internationally where he learnt variety of surgical skills, techniques and expertise in the management of various orthopaedic conditions and he aims to offer his patients a well-deserved and a good standard of care. He also believes in training and educating of young upcoming doctors and future specialists which he thrives to achieve through his position as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal School of Medicine since the year 2022. During his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading and practicing active sport such as running and playing soccer just to keep himself fit.

Hand pathologies: Hand joint arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, ganglion cyst, peripheral nerve injuries etc. Joint replacement and tendon transfer surgeries both for shoulder and hand joints.
