Dr Raman has  graduated with an MBA from Gibs. This has enhanced her position to understand the changing environment of business which affects many people on a daily basis thus leading to mental health challenges. The leadership skills and experience acquired over the many years of practicing as a psychiatrist aims at equipIng individuals with the coping skills to become more resilient and agile in the volatile economic environment that faces many South Africans.

Dr Natali Raman is a compassionate and warm Specialist Psychiatrist based in Pretoria, Gauteng. She is a qualified Psychiatrist that has obtained a postgraduate degree in Psychiatry and Mental Health. She is also a Fellow of the College of Psychiatrists of South Africa.

With her experience and passion for Psychiatry, Dr Raman provides comprehensive care and individual attention to all her patients because she understands that all her patients are not the same.

  • Mood and anxiety disorder:
    Anxiety is the natural way that the body reacts to stress and other difficult situations. Symptoms of anxiety may include an increased heart rate, rapid breathing, restlessness and trouble concentrating. An anxiety disorder is a mental disorder where the symptoms are so severe, that they interfere with your daily life. Mood disorders are general emotional states or moods where your emotions are distorted or inconsistent. A mood disorder causes symptoms such as prolonged and persistent extreme sadness, depression, irritability and temper outbursts. Dr Natali Raman may recommend medication and therapy, to help treat you.
  • ADHD:
    Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD, is a mental health condition that causes above-normal levels of hyperactive and impulsive behaviours. ADHD may cause symptoms such as difficulties in focusing or concentrating, being forgetful with regards to completing tasks, easily distracted and difficulties sitting still. One may also interrupt people while they are talking. There are different types of attention deficit hyperactivity disorders such as predominantly inattentive type, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type and combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive type. Treatment for ADHD may include medication such as central nervous system stimulants to help increase brain chemicals such as dopamine and norepinephrine. Dr Raman may also recommend therapies such as psychotherapy and behavioural therapy.
  • General psychiatry conditions:
    Psychiatric conditions are mental illnesses that disturb your thinking, moods and behaviour. These illnesses may increase the risk of disability, pain, death, or loss of freedom and happiness. There are different types of psychiatric disorders, namely, depression, personality disorders, and schizophrenia. Eating disorders and addictive behaviours may indicate other psychiatric disorders. These disorders cause symptoms such as confused thinking, inability to manage stress, substance abuse, and/or extreme tiredness, low energy or sleeping problems. Depending on the type of disorder you are diagnosed with, Dr Natali Raman may recommend medication, psychosocial interventions, psychotherapy and other treatments such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
