Dr Martin Vanlierde

After obtaining his undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery degree at from the University of Cape Town, Dr Martin Vanlierde went on to complete his internship in Pietermaritzburg. Upon completion he went to expand his knowledge in the UK. After spending 18 months in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr Vanlierde gained a keen interest in Otorhinolaryngology, the subspecialty that deals with the ear, nose, and throat and related structures of the head and neck. Dr Vanlierde then formalised his training in General Surgery and Otolaryngology within the next six years.

After graduating with his post-graduate degree Otolaryngology through the Fellowship in Otolaryngology from the College of Medicine of South Africa, Dr Vanlierde obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh one year later.

It was then, as a qualified Ears, Nose and Throat Surgeon, that Dr Vanlierde moved to British Columbia Canada and continued to work as an ENT specialist for the next nine years before returning to South Africa to open his private practice in 2001.

Since then Dr Vanlierde has been the secretary for the South African Academy of Aesthetic and Facial Reconstructive Surgery, works as a consultant for Groote Schuur Hospital in the department of Otolaryngology part time as well as runs the Voice Clinic.

As of 2018, Dr Vanlierde is a member of the Society of South African Rhinoplasty Surgeons in Cape Town. In 2018 Dr Vanlierde attended the European Laryngological Society Meeting in the UK, the Annual Meeting of South African ENT Society in Cape Town as well as the Inaugural Meeting of Laryngology Society of South Africa, which was held in Cape Town.

Dr Vanlierde practices from the Mediclinic Milnerton and Life Vincent Pallotti Hospital covering all aspects of Ear Nose and Throat conditions including general otolaryngology, snoring surgery, endoscopic DCR, tonsillectomy, placement of grommets and sinus surgery, Dr Vanlierde has a particular interest in cosmetic nose surgery otherwise known as rhinoplasty (nose job).
